We are delighted to announce details of Bellarine North Rotary Club’s annual Creative Writing Competition for 2023. The competition, to be held in Term One 2023, is open to primary schools in Drysdale, Clifton Springs, Leopold, St Leonards, and Portarlington.
Competition details - Open to Year Five and Year Six students
$100 first prize, $70 second prize and $30 third prize for each Year level, plus $100 to winning school.
There is a 500-word limit and entries can be handwritten or typed.
Writing topic
The theme for Rotary International in 2023 is IMAGINE.
We therefore invite budding writers in Grades Five and Six to complete, and explore in up to 500 words, the sentence, “Imagine if ……….”
Submission of entries
Each student is allowed one entry. Each story must be accompanied by a title page that includes:
· Student's name
· School
· Teacher's name
· Year level
· Teacher's best email contact
CLOSING DATE
Closing date for all entries is Friday, 17th March, 2023

Announcement of Prize Winners
Winning entries will be announced, and awards presented, at the Bellarine North Rotary Easter Art Expo in Drysdale on Saturday 8th April 2023. Finalists will have their stories displayed at the Art Expo.
Only original pieces of work will be considered. Criteria for judging will include each story’s originality, creativity, and structure. The judging panel will include Rotarian Dr June Alexander (an author with a PhD in Creative Writing).
